Transformation: Righteousness can Shock

Transformation: Righteousness can Shock

Yesterday, I asked if my readers would be surprised the breastplate of God’s Armor protects more than the heart?

Maybe you had already realized the fact the heart AND the lungs are both protected behind a breastplate of armor. After all, to stay standing in battle, your heart must continue to pump and your lungs must keep on breathing.

But what I never considered until now: the child of God needs to be able to speak during spiritual battle. And you can’t speak if you can’t breathe.

You can fight by speaking truth

You see, not only does righteousness guard the heart against evil, (and we’re talking about the righteousness of Christ, our right-standing in Him); but WE ALSO NEED TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE OUT spoken words that produce life.

I was shocked to realize how much the prayer warrior’s spoken words matter. Here are just a few examples:

We Confess With Our Mouths

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:8-10 New King James Version)

Mountain Moving Speech

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall SAY unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he SAITH shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he SAITH. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:22-24 King James Version)

Build Up Faith Using Our Words

… Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19 New American Standard Bible 1995)

Speak to Bring Glory to God

But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” When they had threatened them further, they let them go (finding no basis on which to punish them) on account of the people, because they were all glorifying God for what had happened; (Acts 4:19-21 New American Standard Bible 1995)

We must walk, work and speak truth!

Righteousness is not only right-standing and right-speaking but also right-living. We represent Christ to the world.

Therefore everything we speak must be truth. The breastplate is connected to the belt of truth. The Roman soldier’s breastplate was literally connected to his belt.

In the same way, the spiritual warrior must have his righteousness connected to the truth to provide a solid foundation.

I’m on a journey to discover the requirements to be a prayer warrior. The first thing to remember is I’m not alone, I’m surrounded by heavenly help.

I want to take the next 20 days to examine truths about spiritual warfare, corporate prayer and the praying in agreement and learn to apply them to my life. I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I’m going to be thinking with my fingers, so to speak, as I process what is in my heart about these topics after reading the word and praying for discernment.

Today’s question for your consideration: What is something that should never be concealed?
