Transformation: A Rare and Precious Sword

Transformation: A Rare and Precious Sword

In some parts of the world, it is illegal to have bibles. There are missionaries who risk their lives to smuggle the Word of God to hungry souls.

I once watched a video of some Chinese receiving their own bibles. It was so touching to watch them reverently stroke the covers, some even kissed the bible and clutched it to their chest. In fact, here is one such video on YouTube showing people receiving bibles.

(This is not my video; it is a YouTube Video from International Christian Concern)

The Bible is the Believer’s Love Letter from God

I marvel at the Holy Bible. Written centuries ago by a variety of authors, and containing 66 books, it presents a cohesive story of God’s love for those who want to be His people.

We are so blessed that most of you reading these words not only own a bible but have access to several translations and resources to help you study the bible; not to mention, we have the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and bring to remembrance all the words of Christ.

Besides all this, do you realize the Word of God is an actual weapon?

… take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:17B New Living Translation

The Bible is two-edged: defensive and offensive

Only 12 words, but they describe a powerful weapon to use, not just to defend ourselves, although it certainly does defend us from the attacks of the enemy; but we can go on the offense, using and praying the Word of God. We can gain territory for the kingdom.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Hebrews 4:12 New Living Translation

When you are guided by the Holy Spirit, He will direct you when and where to use the Word of God and it will be as effective as cutting with a sharp knife. The lies of the enemy will be exposed.

The bible is a powerful weapon – use it!

You might say, “All this study of the Word of God takes a lot of time and effort. I’m already overloaded with day-to-day life.”

Certainly, that is a concern. It’s true you can’t do everything; but my point is suiting up in the armor of God is vital – it means everything. Cut something else out. Spend time in prayer and He will direct you what to cut. My guess is He would like most of us to cut back on social media, television and wasting time; please let us know how He directs you.

Congratulations, you’ve made it to the 14th day of my Transformation: Becoming an Effective Prayer Warrior series. For 28 days, we are examining truths about spiritual warfare, corporate prayer and praying in agreement and learning to apply them to our lives.

I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I’m going to be thinking with my fingers, so to speak, as I process what is in my heart about these topics after reading the word and praying for discernment.

You can go here to see each post I will be making on this topic.

Today’s question for your consideration: What are some of the most beautiful words to you?
