March Edition - 4 Somethings to Share

prov31grace

I’m all about reflection and writing things down; because life flies by so quickly, it is easy to lose track of the joys of everyday life. This year, I thought I’d join Jennifer Goodwin’s link-up at Overflowing with Thankfulness focusing on 4 Somethings each month, sharing what we loved, read, learned and ate.

Loved – God Provided

Recently, my husband received a medical diagnosis that was a little disheartening. The medication needed to offset his illness would not be covered by his insurance, and it would cost us $600 per month.

I’m far enough in my walk with the Lord to not get too upset because I know my God will provide for my needs. And sure enough, He did.

My husband had to make several phone calls including one to the insurance company to discuss alternative plans. (Sometimes, you just must advocate for yourself!)

It was pretty frustrating to him to have to wait several days for an answer; but it was good news when the answer came. Yes, there was an alternative medication. The cost would only be $4 per month.

Already, we are seeing results after less than two weeks.

God is good! I love I can depend on Him, no matter what.

Read – Beth Moore’s Book, All My Knotted-Up Life

I didn’t read but listened to an audible book, Beth Moore’s “All My Knotted Up Life,” and it wrecked me in the best way. Without giving too much away, I just wanted to say the way God wove all the strands of her life to come together at this point in time was beautiful to me. Because I believe and trust He will do that in the life of everyone of His believers.

Learned – A New Mantra

I subscribe to Crystal Twaddell’s blog posts and this week she sent a post, 8 Powerful Words to Shift Your Day, and these words leaped off the page:

I’m making that my mantra as well, but first, let’s examine why today is the best day.

First and foremost, it’s the best day because I’m one day closer to seeing Jesus!

Or another way to put it, I’m one step closer to my destiny. I like that because I still feel there are things to accomplish before seeing Jesus.

It’s the best day because I know so much more today than I ever did – I know the pitfalls to avoid. I know better ways of doing things.

I like myself more than I ever did.

It’s the best day because I feel I love more than I ever did.

There’s less sin in my life. Am I perfect? NO! But I’m maturing and growing and getting less self-centered. (I mean, I do realize for me, fighting self-centeredness is a daily battle.)

I’m making progress.

Ate – Banana Pudding Cookies

I splurged on some Pampered Chef goodies lately and have been experimenting with making cookies.

I tried Banana Pudding Cookies using Jessica’s recipe from the website, Family Cookie Recipes.com

The cookies were yummy and I’ve been requested to make them again … like the very next time I’m cooking!

  1. Rejoicing with you in the new health improvements and the great rate! Thanks for the book recommendations, and it was good to hear how encouraging they were to you. Mmm banana pudding cookies, I’m heading over to check them out.

  2. Love your updates! So glad that you all were able to find an alternative medicine that works and is affordable. My MIL gifted me Beth Moore’s book and I got it last weekend. I also want to listen to it because she is the narrator and I love listening to her talk! Thanks for sharing and participating!

  3. Rejoicing with you at God’s answer to prayer over the cost of meds. A friend of mine left her $1200 prescription at the drug store counter this week and started looking for an alternative.

And Beth Moore’s book will arrive at the library for me to pick up next week. I can’t wait … her story is fascinating and hope-filled.

  4. I’m so glad you (well, your husband!) were able to find an alternative medication at a MUCH more reasonable cost, and that there’s improvement already. What a great mantra, and I love your reasoning! Have a blessed weekend! Visiting from SFS#12

  5. What fun to cruise around the inter webs and see the Share Four Somethings people. Fascinating!!

I, too, read Beth Moore’s book…but I’ve never had a banana pudding cookie. It has a fruit in the title, it can be considered heath food in my world.

  6. Your post is full up with faith and thankfulness. Loved hearing about the provision of medication for your husband. God is good and we are blessed by his care.

  7. Recently a medication which my dad has taken for years was no longer covered by Medicare. I was encouraged by the pharmacist to contact the insurance co and advocate for them to give a prior authorization. I thought it was going to be a hassle but it proved quite easy. I am sure your post will encourage many to pray and then advocate for themselves with health issues. I am so glad it worked our with your husband’s medication.

  8. What a beautiful month, Jerralea! Rejoicing with you over God’s provision for your husband!
Years ago we experienced a similar situation with my daughter’s necessary meds which at the time would cost upwards of $2000/month as they were infusion meds.
She was suffering, and as we prayed, she said, I know God can drop those meds right out of heaven for me if He wants to. Well, He practically did, because the pharmaceutical company had a little-known program which provided them FREE of charge in certain situations. We would never have known about it if the hospice pharmacist I worked with hadn’t overheard my conversation with my daughter over the phone. Today is the best day of your life!!

  9. So glad I read your post today – just the encouragement I needed! I love those words to live and your wonderful perspective on why today really is the best day of my life!!:) And thanks for sharing a testimony of God’s provision. What a wonderful God we serve….and I’m so glad that your husband has the new medication and is already seeing results! Amen! Blessings to you today. You blessed me!
