One of my favorite songs, Heaven’s Point of View, sung by Priscilla McGruder, presents the idea there’s a different way of looking at things.
MY POINT OF VIEW
As I slog along the ups and downs and treacherous paths on my journey, I can get a false perspective. I can be thinking I’m failing in my calling. I’m thinking this is taking so long. After all, it’s been years since I started my journey. I should be much father along than I am. Why do I still have mess-ups? Am I ever going to get it right?
We all want to feel we are making a difference; but in the thick of things, it’s tough to judge.
GOD’S POINT OF VIEW
If we could see things the way God sees things, we might be surprised. The small things we do might have a big impact. We just can’t see it.
The journey that seems so long is very short from eternity’s view. The bible tells us our life is but a vapor – a puff of aerosol spray if you will, as compared to eternity.
What seems to last forever, actually won’t!
The mountains of trouble we may encounter are not nearly as huge as we might think. I love these lines in the song, Heaven’s Point of View:
But I′m living in the promise I'll never leave you I'll always see you through So what′s this mountain To an eagle flying high From heaven′s point of view
I want to fly high over the obstacles in my way; but even if my path requires tedious careful climbing, I know I’m not alone. My Traveling Companion is with me, with grace and mercy following behind.

In the depths of shadow’s valley
where even stars forbear to shine,
where death takes a ghastly tally
of that which should have been divine,
I will walk with firm conviction,
I will walk with head held high,
and though it may seem contradiction,
I will live when I will die,
for there is a light beside me,
a bright gleam to banish night,
testament now to the myst’ry
that is born to firelight
in a stable cramped and small,
a Babe come to save us all.
Andrew! This is awesome! My personal favorite of the ones I’ve seen you do! Thank you.
That heavenly perspective makes such a difference in living for our Father who loves us so!
FMF #15, btw! 🙂
Thanks, Lauri! I pray to always see things from a heavenly perspective.
So true! Learning to consider my circumstances with an eternal perspective encourages me to trust God and press on.

I find things look much different 5 years down the road. What a difference eternity will make!
Thanks for dropping in, Kym!
“f we could see things the way God sees things, we might be surprised. The small things we do might have a big impact. We just can’t see it.” — I really needed to see this today.
Thanks for sharing.
Sandra, so glad you received something from this post. Thanks for dropping in.
It is so encouraging to realize that things are different from God’s point of view. We see dimly what one day will be made clear.
So true, Carol. Thanks for visiting.
Oh to always remember that his ways (n perspective) are not our ways…
Yes! I find I need reminding of this fact all the time. Good to see you, Jan!
I love this. What a comfort and needed reminder. It’s so easy for me to feel like I’m failing my calling. I figure there must be something I’ve missed, and God will gladly show me when I finally join Him in heaven. But I have a feeling that’s not how He operates.
So we’re neighbors at the Let’s Have Coffee linkup! Yay! I visited you and your lovely post yesterday, but I thought I’d leave you a little extra love. I’m going to keep that visual of an eagle flying over in my mind as a great metaphor for how God’s view is so radically different from mine. Lovely post.
Ashley, so good of you to visit twice. I’ve been delayed a bit on my response because, well, life has been full to the brim. But I’m so excited you were able to receive something from this post. I need reminding all the time that God can see the big picture, and I can’t!
Ups and downs in life – oh yes! Been there and doing that. Looking at the “Why is it taking so long?”, “Am I a complete failure?”, “What did I do wrong?” – but from God’s perspective, is it all OK?
Just stopped by from FMF #29
What is awesome is that God knows the heart. We may not do everything perfectly, but He knows our true intentions.
Thanks for visiting, Heather!
Oh, this was encouraging this afternoon. I’m slow in getting around to the FMF link-up (and I almost did not) but glad that I did!! Blessings to you today!
So glad you dropped by, Jennifer. My aim is always to encourage, so thank you for letting me know you got something out of the post.
Jerralea, this is the second time today I have read the James 4:14. Life passes so quickly for sure. I want to keep eternity in mind each day. Thank you for the encouragement!
Joanne, as each day passes by, I become more and more aware of how little time I have left. I want to make it count!
Jerri, this is great. This>”If we could see things the way God sees things, we might be surprised. The small things we do might have a big impact. We just can’t see it.” is a very poignant statement. You know I never thought about it but the journey really is short in eternities view.

And it seems shorter every day! Good to see you, my friend.
thanks for the reminder to see life from God’s viewpoint. ours is too small and marred.
His is victorious and grand and redemptive!
Yes, we definitely cannot see the big picture. Thanks for dropping in, Linda. Always good to see you!
Lovely post! Oh, for eyes to see as God sees!
What would it be like to see what He sees? I’ve an idea we don’t have a clue!
Thanks for visiting, Richella.
SO.good, and I do forget God’s viewpoint from outside time!
Isn’t it wild to realize our concept of time is nothing compared to His?
Thanks for dropping in, Michele.
