Life is not easy. In fact, God tells us there will be struggle, there will be warfare – not against flesh and blood – but in the heavenly realms.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12 NASB
I think we can all agree our world has seen wickedness. But the Lord has not left us defenseless. He has provided equipment. Heavenly tools! For safety’s sake, the prayer warrior needs to be suited up.
The Armor of God
He has given us both defensive and offensive equipment known as the Armor of God. We will be focusing on this equipment for the next few posts.
It’s vital to put our armor on. The great thing is this: we don’t have to muster up this equipment by ourselves. Our armor is Christ Himself. Jesus is the belt of truth, He is the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation. His Word is the sword of the spirit we use offensively against the enemy. He provides everything we need.
However, it is up to us to use it.

Promises are also for your protection
He has also given us precious promises to stand on when the enemy whispers words of defeat to you. You can wear those promises like a suit of armor.
“God says He will never leave me or forsake me, so you’re going to have to walk through Him if you’re going to mess with me!” Psalm 23:6
“God says no one can snatch me out of His hand.” John 10:28-29
“God says if I resist the enemy, he has to flee.” James 4:7
Our part is to submit to God. He does the rest. More about that later.

I’m on a journey to discover the requirements to be a prayer warrior. The first thing to remember is I’m not alone, I’m surrounded by heavenly help.
I want to take the next 23 days to examine truths about spiritual warfare, corporate prayer and the praying in agreement and learn to apply them to my life. I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I’m going to be thinking with my fingers, so to speak, as I process what is in my heart about these topics after reading the word and praying for discernment.
You can go here to see each post I will be making on this topic.
Today’s question for your consideration: Do our beliefs matter?

I don’t know why I never put two and two together that Jesus IS the armor! Thank you for that insight this morning.
The battle belongs to the Lord doesn’t it? Like Saul’s armor was too heavy for David when the armor of God is heavy, it isn’t for the Spirit. I have learned to rely on Exodus 14:14, to be still and let Him fight.
By ‘beliefs,’ I’m guessing you mean our belief in the saving power of Jesus and not religious ideation 😊. We can pray with only a mustard seed of belief (I believe—Jesus help my unbelief). That’s all that matters.
The armor of God is one of my favorite ponders! Thank you for your writing and for sharing it for the benefit of others!💝
I love how simply you’ve presented the armor and the very practical way to use the promises of God to defend against enemy attacks!
