Transformation: Beliefs Based on Truth

Transformation: Beliefs Based on Truth

prov31grace

The first piece of the Armor of God listed is the belt of truth. The belt real soldiers had in the day when Paul wrote about the armor was wide, not narrow like the belts we wear today. The belt was a foundational garment that held all kinds of loops for equipment. It was tied to the breastplate. It was important the belt not get lost in the heat of battle.

It’s important to not lose sight of the truth when we are engaged in spiritual warfare. The lies of the enemy are insidious; and he loves to whisper them to us, often in the dead of night, and suck all hope right out of us. He tries to bind us with dread.

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

John 8:31-32 New American Standard Bible 1995

Continue in the Word

The church must be built on the truth if it is to stand. Truth guards against lies from the enemy infiltrating the body. The way to guard against false teaching is to know the truth.

I once had a job at a bank. We had trainings all the time; and when it came to guarding against counterfeit currency, we were told to examine and know the real thing. Once you know the look and feel of real money completely, fake money stands out.

Know the Word; Know the Truth

Once you know the truth of the Word backwards and forwards; lies and twisting of the truth will stand out.

Jesus said in John 14:6 “…I am the Truth.” This is an example of Jesus being our Armor. He is the truth, our belt of truth that holds us together. Hide yourselves in the Truth and you will never be fooled.

I’m on a journey to discover the requirements to be a prayer warrior. The first thing to remember is I’m not alone, I’m surrounded by heavenly help.

I want to take the next 22 days to examine truths about spiritual warfare, corporate prayer and the praying in agreement and learn to apply them to my life. I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I’m going to be thinking with my fingers, so to speak, as I process what is in my heart about these topics after reading the word and praying for discernment.

You can go here to see each post I will be making on this topic.

Today’s question for your consideration: Is it better to be a warrior or live a life of ease?
