Transformation: The Power of Jesus’ Name

Transformation: The Power of Jesus’ Name

prov31grace

Right smack dab in the middle of our discussion regarding the equipping of the saints with the Armor of God, I want to also point out the rights, privileges and power we receive when we use the name of Jesus.

The Name Transforms You into a Child of God

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name

John 1:12 New American Standard Bible 1995

You believe Jesus is who He said He was, and BOOM! You have the right to become a child of God.

The first step in the redemption process is admitting you are a sinner in need of a Savior (and we all are), the second step is believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the third step is confessing with your mouth that you accept Jesus as your Savior.

I love it when we can find a concept verified by more than one scripture. Here are two more scriptures connecting belief in the name of Jesus and salvation. (And this is not an exhaustive list by any means. I encourage you to study this subject for yourself.)

… but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

John 20:31New American Standard Bible 1995

‘And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Acts 2:21 New American Standard Bible 1995

The apostle Peter spoke the above scripture in his first life-changing sermon after he had received the Holy Spirit. Over 3,000 people believed and called on the Name, thus the church was born and continues to this day despite all the attempts hell has made to bring her down.

A Child of God Can Ask and Receive in the Name of Jesus

In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

John 16:22-24 New American Standard Bible 1995

Wait a minute! Ask for anything in His name? That seems unbelievable.

Asking in the Name of Jesus is For God’s Glory

12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

John 14:12-14 New American Standard Bible 1995

You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

John 15:16 New American Standard Bible 1995

When I ask in the name of Jesus, it removes self-centeredness from my prayers. I can’t ask for something that is selfish or worldly because I know Jesus would never ask for it for Himself.

This is a subject well worth studying. I’ve just scratched the surface here. I want to leave you with a thrilling scripture found in the last chapter of the bible telling us where we will see the Name of Jesus:

No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him … they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.

Revelation 22:3-5 New Living Translation

Not only will you be walking in the power of the Name of Jesus, you’ll be wearing it!

Congratulations, you’ve made it to the 11th day of my Transformation: Becoming an Effective Prayer Warrior series. For 28 days, we are examining truths about spiritual warfare, corporate prayer and the praying in agreement and learning to apply them to our lives.

I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I’m going to be thinking with my fingers, so to speak, as I process what is in my heart about these topics after reading the word and praying for discernment.

You can go here to see each post I will be making on this topic.

Today’s question for your consideration: Is faith in a decline?
