In my Transformation series, I’ve been examining the characteristics of a prayer warrior. A prayer warrior is someone who does spiritual battle interceding for his family and friends, his church, his nation and the world.
It goes without saying the prayer warrior is also a blood-bought child of God who represents Christ to the world; who goes about spreading the gospel, helping send others to preach the gospel, and teaches and disciples people into the kingdom. You might say, the warrior is one who points to the saver of our souls, Jesus, the rescuer.
We are to do as He did
What struck me in this prayer of Jesus for His disciples is the fact we are sent out into the world just like Jesus was sent. What was He sent to do? He came to move into our neighborhood and do life with us. (See John 1:14 MSG) He came to teach, preach and heal. He came to rescue souls.
And so, we don’t live isolated lives, but we live life in community. We are to teach and preach and pray for healing. We are here to partner with Jesus in rescuing souls by pointing to the Soul Saver. In other words, we share the gospel.
It’s all about truth
In order to do that, Jesus prayed we would become holy by the truth. Jesus is the Truth. Jesus is the Word. The Word is truth.
As warriors suited up with the Word of God, truth permeates our very being. Our loins are belted with truth, our minds are protected with the helmet of salvation, which is the truth of the gospel. We protect ourselves and others by using the Sword of the Spirit, which again is the Word of God.
Once all that truth soaks into our core being and marinates there, we will be giving off the aroma of the gospel wherever we go. People will love to savor the Soul Saver whenever they get a whiff of the fragrance of Christ.
This is Day 24 of my Transformation: Becoming an Effective Prayer Warrior series. The goal is to write 28 posts discussing spiritual armor, the prayer of agreement and other prayer strategies.
I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I’m going to be thinking with my fingers, so to speak, as I process what is in my heart about these topics after reading the word and praying for discernment.
You can go here to see each post I will be making on this topic.
Today’s question for your consideration: Name a prayer warrior who had a problem?

I watched episode 2 of Season 3 of The Chosen last night. It was interesting watching how they depicted the apostles’ reactions to being chosen to go into the regions to teach and heal. They felt so inadequate, similar to how we feel today! It was very relatable. 🙂 Your post reminded me of this.
It’s sobering to realize every child of God represents Christ. The great thing is the Holy Spirit will help us!
Jerralea, thank you for reminding us of the transformative power of God’s Truth!
Thanks for coming by, Donna. More and more I see the importance of walking in truth.
This reminds me to pray words of truth from scripture over my children. I want them to wear the belt of truth, the helmet of salvation and the Sword of the Spirit.
Jolene, that is a worthy goal. Praying scripture over our children is the best because you know that is the will of God!
