So long, September!

God’s splendor is a tale that is told,
    written in the stars.
    Space itself speaks his story
through the marvels of the heavens.
His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky,
showing his skill in creation’s craftsmanship.
Each day gushes out its message to the next,
night by night whispering its knowledge to all—Psalm 19:1-2 NLT

There’s a reason being in nature brings one closer to God. His creation is speaking to us in ways other than words. With the constrant stream of words – both on a screen and spoken in our ears – it’s restful to commune non-verbally with the world He has made.

Actually, September brought me several quotes to ponder:

Ability is a process, frequency is a decision – Jon Acuff, Back to Challenge, Day 1. So, I can decide to keep on keeping on, day after day.

“But I don’t feel anything …” “Who said you are supposed to feel anything?” – from sermon by Pete Vinson, JFBC, September 19, 2021 Makes me think of the scripture, “We walk by faith not by sight.” It woudn’t be faith if we could feel or see it, right?

“I’m going to believe what God says and I’m going to step out there. And if I make
100 faith steps and 10 of them happen, I would have lived a more full life in so
many other people who are sitting on the sidelines waiting for all the facts. I’m
going to live in crazy faith.” And, “It’s only crazy till it happens.” – Pastor Mike Todd with Annie F. Downs on the That Sounds Fun Podcast, Episode 325, Crazy Faith

We often wonder why we don’t get answers to our prayers during a struggle (a trial or a test). Just as a teacher is silent during an exam at school, “during a test, the Teacher is silent” – Pastor Jack Oliver.

And another timely gem from Pastor Jack: “When anger controls, you can be right about the point but wrong about the method.

    1. Thanks for dropping in, Barbara. I have always wanted to “feel saved,” but have found God requires me to walk by faith. Oh, sometimes He grants me those glorious feelings but most often I’m prompted to rely on His Word.

  1. I so agree with you, Jerralea! –>”There’s a reason being in nature brings one closer to God. His creation is speaking to us in ways other than words.” I love how God speaks to us when we venture outdoors to spend time among more of his creations.

  2. What lovely fall photos! I’ve always wanted to visit a pumpkin patch! “I’m going to live in crazy faith.” I loved that quote. It reminds me of the teachings in Bob Goff’s book, Dream Big. He also points toward action before all the facts. Just get going, one step at a time.

    1. Such good advice, Lynn! I know lately I’ve run across a couple scriptures saying it will be done according to our faith. What do we have to lose in taking that first step of faith?
