Wouldn’t you like to be an extremely calm, steadfast and serene person even when everyone else around you may be falling to pieces?
If you are a child of God, I believe it is possible for you to not get easily upset, stressed, confused or angry when the world is spinning in a direction you did not expect.
In order to have an imperturbable spirit, you will need to keep your mind fixed on God. And to keep your mind fixed, you will have to let go of some mindsets; namely, fear, lack, and powerlessness.
You will need to add scripture to your arsenal of weapons
You might roll your eyes and think, “She thinks scripture is the answer to everything.”
Why, yes! Yes, I do think so. How did Jesus fight His enemy? By quoting scripture!
In fact, the Apostle Paul, who knew a thing or two about anxious times, told us how important it was to focus our thought life on good, pure and noble things. If that doesn’t describe scripture, I don’t know what does!
Fix your minds on these things:
I’m going to share with you just a few scriptures to get you started but if you want to be a person with unshakeable faith and an unflappable spirit, you are going to need to commit these scriptures – and more – to memory. You will need to focus with laser-like intensity upon them daily until you spirit knows them so well you will be able to quote them at a moment’s notice.
Don’t be afraid! You are more than a conqueror!
Don’t be afraid! God values you!
Don’t be afraid. Fear is from the enemy. You are not powerless!
If you are feeling afraid, just know … it’s not from God.
What if you are anxious about material needs?
If you are a child of God, you don’t have to worry about needs. Does that mean every follower of Christ is wealthy? Certainly not! But if you follow the Lord and keep His commandments, you can expect to have your needs met. And what He doesn’t see fit to give you, He will give you creative ways to do without.
You will have all you need. I love The Passion Translation of this same scripture:
If we could just focus on Him being our best friend, what anxiety could be relieved! What true friend would forsake in time of trouble?
He is in this for the long haul
As you may know, I have been discussing controlling clutter, not just physically; but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Today’s word is imperturbable. Had to look that one up. It means being marked by extreme calm, impassivity, and steadiness: serene.
Also, it was said: If you’re imperturbable you are not easily upset. If your goal is to be imperturbable, then you can’t let things bother you or get you stressed, confused, or angry. This is day ten of my series, “A Rich and Satisfying Life,” examining a life free from the clutter of both wrong thoughts, attitudes, expectations, and too-full calendars, as well as physical clutter. I’m joining a host of writers participating in a Write28Days challenge sponsored by Anita Ojeda. My life being what it is, I’m starting 3 days behind, but writing 28 days does not have to be defined by the month of February. I’m simply promising to write for 28 days. If life interrupts, as it often does, I may have to skip a day here and there. The goal is to write 28 times on my subject, “A Rich and Satisfying Life,” consecutively … or not!

I hadn’t heard of the word ‘imperturbable’ either! But it’s a good one. Scripture is so powerful to calm our anxious minds during times of fear and trouble. Thanks for sharing.
I seriously do not know where I’d be without scripture!
Christine, so glad you dropped in. I’m one of your readers on your blog because I’m in need of margin!
Imperturbable – I had not ever heard it before. It was the word which drew me into reading this post 🙂 Wonderful word and I join you in saying – I do not know where I would be without my Bible. It is the only thing that keeps me grounded every day.
