Did you once have a set of shiny new dreams and goals? The future looked bright; and you were sure with just a little hard work, you could attain your vision. But life got in the way, and your dreams seemed to disappear. When you went to look for them, they were tattered and torn like a flag would look after flapping in a windstorm.
Is it time for a dream to die?
It is one thing if you have determined it was time to let a dream die; but if your dream still speaks to you, it might be time to fan the flame before the fire goes out.
Because people need dreams.
Although I’ve been talking about a lot about decluttering old mind sets and attitudes, I don’t want to give the impression we should get rid of goals and vision. Oh no!
Without a vision people perish
In other words, you must have goals to live, or else what is the point?
It’s time to seek God for His dream and goals for you.
If you can align your dreams up with the Father’s will … well, then, you know it’s going to happen!
Finally, God is a good God. There is not the slightest hint of darkness in Him. If He says no to a dream, you can believe it is for your ultimate good. Trust Him. He has something better for you.
Trash the pity parties and the feeling of being a wall flower
Instead, reframe your thoughts by dwelling on all the good things God has said about you.
Start with this one:
Hey! I’m on a journey. I don’t pretend I’m doing all this perfectly. I’m sharing the goals and dreams I have in my heart in this series, “A Rich and Satisfying Life.” This is day thirteen of examining a life free from the clutter of both wrong thoughts, attitudes, expectations, and too-full calendars, as well as physical clutter. You can click here to see all the links to the series.
I’m joining a host of writers participating in a Write28Days challenge sponsored by Anita Ojeda. My life being what it is, I’m starting 3 days behind, but writing 28 days does not have to be defined by the month of February. I’m simply promising to write for 28 days. If life interrupts, as it often does, I may have to skip a day here and there. The goal is to write 28 times on my subject, “A Rich and Satisfying Life,” consecutively … or not!

Indeed folks need to be dreaming at any age!
Good Morning, Jerralea, I do have dreams although not all hold up to the test of them being God’s for me. Those fall by the wayside and I feel disappointment. But many are the plans of God and those do come to fruition. I am grateful to be aligned with the One Who carved them for my life. At age 74, I still have dreams and plans yet they seem less wild. Funny, though, more seem to be coming to fruition in the era of my life. Maybe, just maybe, I am spending more time with the One Who makes those plans. Funny how that goes!!
This exact question is one I ponder and pray over.
A long time ago, I gave God my tattered, broken dream that I loved so much. It was the greatest gift I could give Him. Then, one day, He gave it back – and because I had given it to Him – with all my expectations of what it would look like and be like, when He gave it back to me, He showed me what it would look like and be like – and it was no longer tattered or broken, and it looked very different that I had imagined and it was a good thing!
