Transformation: Glorifying the One We Adore

Transformation: Glorifying the One We Adore

prov31grace

I have long believed people want to live their lives for a glorious purpose. I’ve often thought young people would gladly devote their lives to be part of something they felt really mattered. Dissatisfaction and despair happen when people can’t see any purpose in their struggles.

A cause worth spending your life

Becoming an effective prayer warrior, in my mind, is about the highest purpose one could achieve. You are aligning yourself with the plans and purposes of King of the Universe, the One who loved the world He created so much, He’d give His only Son for humanity. A King filled with so much love and goodness when asked to give a glimpse of himself to Moses, He described His characteristics like this:

The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out,
“Yahweh! The Lord!
The God of compassion and mercy!
I am slow to anger
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations.
I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.
But I do not excuse the guilty.
    I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren;
the entire family is affected—
even children in the third and fourth generations.”

Exodus 34:6-7 New Living Translation

The above scripture sums up God very well; He is Love, in fact He lavishes love on us! He is Holy. He will forgive; but we must come to Him in repentance. If not, the consequences are dire. And why? Because He knows His love is the very best thing for us.

What does a prayer warrior do?

As I see it, a prayer warrior’s job is to pray success on the efforts of those who go, send, teach and disciple people in the ways of the gospel. We lift our shields of faith against the darts of the enemy covering ourselves, our brother and our sisters in Christ, so they can wield the Sword of the Spirit defeating the enemy.

Unity glorifies

Yesterday we talked about the importance of unity, but it cannot be overemphasized enough. You see, our unity glorifies both God the Father and God the Son.

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, accept one another,
just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.

Romans 15:5-7 New American Standard Bible 1995

Yes, it can be hard work getting into one accord. But since we know God is glorified through our unity, we can pray believing He will grant us the ability to love each other, forgive each other and work together.

We have this promise:

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

1 John 5:14-15 NASB1995

Child of God, let’s set our hearts on glorifying the One we adore. We start by loving His kids.

This is the 21st day of my Transformation: Becoming an Effective Prayer Warrior series. The goal is to write 28 posts discussing spiritual armor, the prayer of agreement and other prayer strategies.

I don’t pretend to know all the answers. I’m going to be thinking with my fingers, so to speak, as I process what is in my heart about these topics after reading the word and praying for discernment.

You can go here to see each post I will be making on this topic.

Today’s question for your consideration: How can we avoid danger?
